Casa dell’Ulivo

The attention for the landscape integration and the research in the compositional field are the roots of the project Casa dell’Ulivo, a villa on Lake Garda created by A side Studio in San Felice del Benaco.
The proposed designconsists in balance between the lake tradition topics and the Mediterranean suggestions.
The architecture is placed in the west coast of Lake Garda, formerly known as Benàcus or Benàco, in a hilly area characterized by the presence of several olive trees, which opens to the north east in a wide view towards the lake.
The possibilities offered by the construction of a new building are compared with the conformation of the area, the exposure and the view of the surrounding landscape.
In fact, the new villa has been designed to allow the best exposure to the natural light and togive a view, from all its rooms, of the garden with its olive trees and of the lake with the mountains in the background.
The project involves the construction of the new building in the upper part of the area (south) which plays on two levels (upper living area and lower sleeping area) thanks to the degradation of the land.
The living area, with an open space facing to the east, enjoys a pleasant view of the lake.
The swimming pool with its solarium is moved to the south in order to not to be affected by the shadows cast by the building.
The fabric of the villa is mostly made out from the living room, the dining room and the kitchen.
Another fabric, detached and slightly turnedto the south hosts the library-study.
Between the main building and the “dependance” there is a porch area for outdoor dining; from here, through a staircase, it is possible to climb to the roof, reaching a terrace from which is enjoyable a wide panoramic view.
From the internal staircase of the main fabric it is possible to go down to the bedroom floor.
While the living area develops a privileged relationship with the lake, in the bedroom area the internal-external relationship is played very closely between the rooms and the garden, with rhythmic openings facing to the east.
There are 3 double bedrooms with en suite bathroom and two single bedrooms with a shared bathroom.
The “master room” takes benefits from a privileged relax area, such as an outdoor patio surrounded by olive trees with a lateral waterfall.
