Contest for the Realization of the Municipal Library

The architectural contest for the realization of the Briosco library, located in the fraction of Capriano, is a particularly interesting experience because it has involved peculiar research activity for this kind of projects.
In fact, since the area available for building the Library is characterized by a strong altitude, the Briosco municipal administration had suggested the realization of a hypogeum or semi hypogeum structure with a green cover.
Therefore, in accordance with the requests provided for by the competition, the design proposed by A-Side Studio took inspiration from the archetype of underground constructions in the Troglodyte architecture of Matmata in Tunisia, the rocky village of Zelve in Cappadocia and the burial structures of the “Domus de Janas ” Sarde.
