Pre-School
2007 | 2010
The building designed in piazza Caserta was born as an extension of the existing pre- school.
The school did not have a right fit, and therefore, the School Management had requested an extension of the surface, linked to the existing one, in order to satisfy children’s play-educational activities, especially during the winter months.
Therefore, the project included a building where, on the ground floor, three new classrooms and a service area and, on the first floor, teachers’ rooms were placed.
The brick, used as the main material for the facade overlooking the public area, was chosen to confirm continuity with other existing buildings in the school complex. The contemporaneousness of the intervention is emphasized by a different use of the material and the architectural design of the façade (with 45 ° rotated bricks).
While the front of the building is deliberately very secluded, with few openings that limit access to the outside, the internal space in classrooms, is open wide with large windows overlooking the garden in order to create a link between interior areas (i.e. classrooms) and outdoor areas (i.e. playground and green areas for children); in the summer period, the actual possibility of completely opening the front (with large sliding windows) allows children to widen and melt the spaces at their disposal.
